Germinal stage (first two weeks following conception); the embryonic stage (until the end of the eighth week); the fetal stage (until birth); First trimester (1-12 weeks); second trimester (13-26/27 weeks); third trimester (27/28-until birth). As you can see, the weeks of the stages do not align to the weeks of the trimesters. They are two different perspectives of viewing pregnancy and development.
