Two doctors review the protocol and willingly write out a prescription for a lethal dose of barbiturates. The prescription is then forwarded to a physician, Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith examines the prescription and realizes that if he fills it, he will become party to Brittany’s suicide. Mr. Smith, however, is opposed to physician-assisted suicide and refuses to fill the prescription.
